My son Sam and I are planning
a late June, AT hike around Mt. Washington, NH. If you are familiar with that
area of the AT, please drop me an email off list. I am looking for some guidance
on planning this trip for Sam's high school graduation trip.
Thanks

Greetings: I've been there in recent
years, hiking and climbing. Depending on just what you have in mind,
perhaps I can add my two cents. I interpret that you want to walk around
the base of the mt., which I haven't done. The climb up to Tuckerman's
Ravine is for later in the season, I imagine. If you can avoid the crowds,
that's a worthwhile trek.

Bob,
I am looking at a linear, 4
day 3 night hike consisting of 26 miles starting at Crawford Notch at US 302,
north bound on the AT, over the top of washington to Pinkham Notch visitor
center. I figure 6-7 miles a day will give us plenty of time to explore, take
our time and maybe do a side hike or two to other presidents. Any idea if this
is do able?. I have a nephew in Manchester who I am hoping can work with us on
the vehicle transportation so we can do a 1 way trek. Considering the volatile
weather on Mt Washington I want to do most of the planning around that part of
the trip first. the climbing and mtbing will come together.
Thanks for the
reply...
Jay C.
